Undercover Sting for Compliance Checks in AZ Republic

Four Buckeye businesses were cited last month in the sale of alcohol to a minor as part of a sting operation by the Buckeye Police Department and state Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.

They were:

  • Liquor Corral, 419 E. Monroe Ave.
  • Mike's Liquor, 210 W. Baseline Road.
  • Chevron gas station, 1419 N. Jackrabbit Trail.
  • Waddell's Longhorn Corral, 1629 N. 195th Ave.

On March 19, an undercover minor working with the departments went into six businesses in the town and attempted to buy alcohol, police said. Four sold the minor alcohol.

Employees at each business were cited for failure to check identification and selling alcohol to an underage person, both Class 2 misdemeanors. The charges were submitted to the town prosecutor and carry a maximum of four months in jail and $750 fine per count.
